ESA Guideline on pre-operative fasting

The pre-operative fasting guideline covers the following areas: 

  • Preoperative fasting - solids
  • Preoperative fasting - fluids
  • Use of prokinetic drugs
  • Special circumstances: children, the elderly, obstetrics and the emergency/trauma patient
