CTN Call for Centres

Join the Clinical Trial Network (CTN)!

The ESA Research Committee has selected three new multi-centre studies to enter the ESA Clinical Trial Network (CTN).

Your hospital may wish to join one of these studies (listed below) as a centre. The first step in this process is to apply to participate in one of the studies and become an ESA CTN active centre. This will help to ensure effective communication with you about the second round of CTN studies and also about future trials.

Eligibility
You are invited to submit contact details on behalf of your hospital in order to become an ESA CTN centre participating in one or several of the studies. The Call for Centre form can be submitted for one or more of the following three projects that have been selected by the ESA Research Committee:

  • ETPOS: European Transfusion Practice and Outcome Study: a multi-central evaluation of standard of transfusion care and clinical outcome for elective surgical patients. Observational Study. Chief Investigator: Jens Meier (Germany)
  • PLATA: Peripheral nerve block for Prevention of Phantom Limb Pain After Transtibial Amputation. Anesthesia and Pain Management study aiming to compare two interventions known to contribute to decreased incidence of phantom limb pain. Chief Investigator: Philipp Lirk (Netherlands)
  • LAS VEGAS: Local ASsessment of VEntilatory management during General Anesthesia for Surgery. Prospective observational international cohort study to characterize mechanical ventilation practices during general anesthesia for surgery. Chief Investigator: Marcus Schultz, Coordinator: Sabrine Hemmes (Netherlands)

Process
The ‘Call for Centre form' must be sent to the ESA Secretariat (research@euroanaesthesia.org). The completion of this form will facilitate the coordination and is mandatory for participation in ESA CTN. ESA Secretariat and Study Chief Investigator will then contact Centres providing them with additional information.
